If you are good at whatever it is you do, your mind can wander yet you still make progress. Craftsmen claim a kind of state of “flow” or meditative state when at work, where time slows down and they see choices that were absent to them before.
In the same way, whatever circumstances you encounter, if you are well trained in your self-awareness, you don’t get swept up in your feelings (of anxiety, frustration, boredom, excitement, or even happiness) as you gain a feel for your work.
Instead, they inform you and your awareness increases. This is the training.
/This post-series is about trying to anchor my experience by exploring within and reminding myself about what it means to practice “good humaning.” It’s about moving forward imperfectly. To follow this thread in my posts, look for these tags: #NotesFromMyYogaJournal
