Who We Are

Dative.works is a training and advisory studio helping leaders hold the line between data, systems, and values.

I’m Christine Haskell, and I lead the studio’s work at the intersection of technology, behavior, and governance—supporting organizations that want to move fast, but not blindly. With three decades in data leadership, organizational psychology, and systems design, I help people navigate complexity with clarity and courage.

We serve change agents: data leaders, educators, policymakers, technologists, and social-sector innovators—people who know the hardest part of transformation isn’t knowing what’s right; it’s acting on it under pressure.

This isn’t a consultancy that hands over a playbook and walks away. It’s a long-game partnership built on reciprocity—where reflection becomes a leadership discipline, and courage becomes part of the system.

What We Do

  • Reflective Leadership Training.
Modular, research-based workshops that help leaders pause, think with discernment, and design with integrity. Core programs—Lead From Within, Lead With Insight, and Move With Intention (coming soon!)—build ethical awareness, systems fluency, and adaptive decision-making at scale.

  • AI + Data Governance Readiness.
We help teams ask better questions—not just “Can we do this? but “Should we? Our frameworks support alignment across product, policy, and practice, especially in data-rich, risk-sensitive environments.

  • Thought Leadership + Strategic Advisory.
I’m the author of Driving Your Self-Discovery and Driving Data Projects, and publishes the Lead With Alignment newsletter. Through research, writing, speaking, and facilitation, I help leaders name the dilemmas they’re facing—and the ones they’re avoiding.

  • Don’t chase hype cycles. Build discernment.

At a time when AI is adopted faster than it’s understood, that’s not a nice-to-have. It’s infrastructure.

What We’re About

Leadership isn’t defined by heroic decisions. It’s shaped in the moments between the data and the decision, between the outcome and the value.

That’s where real leadership happens: when people slow down, think clearly, and keep their values in the room.

Those moments are Strategic Pauses—small, intentional breaks in inertia that interrupt autopilot and restore alignment.

A few core commitments guide our work:

  • Self-awareness is a systems skill.
Most misalignment doesn’t begin with malice. It begins with inattention.

  • Reflection is a form of resistance.
Especially in organizations that reward speed over sense-making.

  • Governance is not a constraint.
Done well, it’s an intentional design for integrity.

  • Values don’t drift on their own.
People drift from them—when pressure builds, when incentives skew, when no one is watching.

Our work is to bring them back into the room.

Why Dative?

In grammar, the dative case marks the recipient of something given, taught, or told. It’s a quiet structure of generosity—used when something is offered for the benefit of another. That’s what leadership is, too: the transmission of meaning, responsibility, and care.

We chose Dative because, at its core, leadership is an act of transmission through which others benefit directly and indirectly from our actions.

Dative.works exists to help people build systems that remember that.
Because values don’t scale on their own, they have to be intentionally designed in.
