One of the best ways to understand what coaching involves is to read accounts of what happened to people when they went: the problems they came in with, the discussions that were had, and how things changed as a result. What follows are three representative case studies of the coaching process: one individual challenge, one team challenge, and one organizational challenge.

Each case presents multiple variables to assess and consider but will be used to illustrate a central concept. Also, there are dynamics between the coach and client that I will not delve into as this is not a handbook on how to coach but rather a resource to gain a high-level understanding of how coaching works and benefits us.

The names presented here are not the names of actual clients and details have been changed to protect anonymity.
