ADAPTABILITY 101

We must adjust to any situation at any given time when it is needed.

Learning can feel exhausting, and exhilarating. It can be especially tiring if we are learning over long periods of time. Sustained attention takes energy. When we travel or learn a new language. We think, hear, and sense in new words.

The kind of lens is required when we move to a new team or organization, where the same words mean something entirely different when interpreted through a different set of values.

This poem is a nice reminder of the cycles of learning and the small things that give us the energy to sustain the journey.

RELEVANCE 101

Relevance is the result of being both highly skilled and highly valued.

“The work of the world is common as mud.

Botched, it smears the hands, crumbles to dust.

But the thing worth doing well done

has a shape that satisfies, clean and evident.”

ATTENTION TO DETAIL 101

Attention to detail is the ability to focus attention on problem-solving toward a thorough and accurate outcome—regardless of the task.

CONFIDENCE 101

Confidence is a state of being clear-headed either that a hypothesis or prediction is correct or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective.

OBSERVATION 101

Observation skills require our senses to recognize, analyze, and recall our surroundings to gain information.

COHESION 101

A genuine consideration and regard for others that makes the group stronger and more resilient.

FORTITUDE 101

Fortitude is a strength of mind and emotional strength that enables courage in the face of adversity.

Language matters because language is a window to the soul. If we take little care of the terms we aspire to, our results will be mixed and we won’t understand why. The more specific our language, the more specific our outcomes.
