The ability to gain deeper meaning from what is expressed or experienced.

OBSERVATION 101

Observation skills require our senses to recognize, analyze, and recall our surroundings to gain information.

Listening well requires a high degree of focus, energy, and attention to detail. We are listening for emotions, inflections, and facts—to hear what is “underneath” what is being said.

We can become more aware by observing what is going on inside and around us. Except for personal experience, we learn everything we know from someone else. We learn by watching others, reading, or listening.
